Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Horn Player
A native Annapolitan, Tony joined the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra as Fourth Horn in 1998. He holds degrees from West Virginia University (BM) and the Peabody Conservatory (MM) and has maintained an active free-lance career, working with numerous ensembles in the region, including Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony and Chesapeake Orchestra. Tony is also a founding member of the Bayfield Brass, a local chamber ensemble with over three decades of diverse performance activities in the region.
He has remained engaged in music education throughout his performing career, building a local private studio of students of various levels ranging from beginners to advanced high school and adult horn players. Additionally, Tony serves as adjunct professor of Horn at Anne Arundel Community College and has previously been on the faculties of St. Mary's College of Maryland, the Peabody Preparatory, and Salisbury University.
Tony retired from the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 2013, having served 24 years on Active Duty, performing with the Wind Ensemble, Marching Band and numerous chamber ensembles. For many years he performed as Ceremonial Unit Leader, conducting countless ceremonial engagements, including musical honors for all levels of military and government dignitaries and organizations. Following his military career, Tony earned Maryland Teaching Certification through Peabody Conservatory Instrumental Education program. He has taught in the Anne Arundel County Public School system since 2016, focusing on Elementary Instrumental instruction.
In his spare time Tony enjoys fitness, sailing and spending time with his wife Kim, son Christopher and other family in the Annapolis area.
